Brazilian politicians propose IPVA tax relief for drivers
Brazilian political figures are proposing various tax relief measures regarding the IPVA (Vehicle Property Tax) to support workers who rely on vehicles for their livelihoods.
Federal Deputy Santin Roveda (União Brasil-PR) is advocating for a national proposal to eliminate IPVA for ride-hailing drivers using platforms such as Uber and 99, as well as taxi drivers. Roveda, a former president of Detran-PR, previously supported reducing IPVA rates in Paraná and exempting motorcycles up to 170cc from the tax. He argues that for these professionals, vehicles are essential tools of work rather than luxury items.
In a separate regional effort, Daniel Messac (Mobiliza) is proposing to expand motorcycle tax exemptions in the state legislature. His proposal aims to increase the current exemption threshold from 150cc to 160cc to reflect modern engine standards and support delivery workers and mototaxistas.
