Brazilian ports update cruise schedules and expand maritime capacity

The 2026/2027 cruise season at the Port of Santos has been rescheduled to begin on October 30, following a delay from the original October 23 date. The delay is attributed to unforeseen circumstances regarding the arrival of the Buenavista, a vessel operated by the Spanish company Corazul, which is currently near Cape Town, South Africa.

The updated season is expected to include 163 calls over 102 days of operation, spanning from late October to early April. Authorities project the season will attract approximately 900,000 passengers and generate an estimated R$ 1.5 billion in economic activity, potentially creating up to 46,000 jobs in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Separately, the Suape Industrial Port Complex has achieved a significant operational milestone following the Brazilian Navy's approval of new depths for its internal channel and evolution basin. These updated depths allow the port to accommodate larger container ships up to 366 meters in length. The expansion aims to increase competitiveness and attract new international maritime lines by improving cargo capacity and navigational safety.
