Brazilian professionals face rising workloads and retention challenges
A Korn Ferry study reveals that 63% of Brazilian professionals have experienced a significant increase in workload over the last two years, a figure slightly higher than the global average of 62%. The research indicates that 59% of Brazilian workers are accumulating responsibilities from multiple roles due to reduced teams and management positions. Furthermore, 47% of respondents report being too busy to deliver relevant results, while 52% state that technology, including artificial intelligence, has increased their expected task volume.
In response to these pressures and a tightening job market, leadership experts suggest alternative methods for retaining high-performing talent when promotions are unavailable. Organizational psychologist Anthony Klotz recommends focusing on professional growth through expanded responsibilities, new skill acquisition, and increased visibility rather than just title changes. Dan Schawbel of Workplace Intelligence emphasizes the importance of transparency regarding the economic climate and the need to decouple career progression from organizational hierarchy.
Despite the workload challenges, the study highlights that salary remains the primary driver for both choosing and staying in a job, cited by 88% and 92% of Brazilian professionals, respectively. Security and stability follow closely as key retention factors.
