The Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Pará opened a civil inquiry into the municipality of Santarém and its prosecutor‑general, Paula Danielle Teixeira Lima Piazza. The investigation targets the distribution of roughly R$ 5.4 million in attorney fees linked to a former FUNDEF fund, alleging payments that exceed constitutional remuneration caps and were not transparently recorded. Prosecutor Diego Belchior Ferreira Santana has ordered the city to deliver detailed monthly payroll data for the period from April 2024 onward, covering salaries, fees, and any related allowances for 27 identified beneficiaries.
The probe seeks to determine whether the payments, some allegedly above the Supreme Court‑defined limits for public remuneration, constitute illegal “supersalaries” and a breach of transparency obligations under the Federal Constitution.
