Brazilian regional fairs drive hotel occupancy surge in Amapá and Ceará

The Expofeira 2026 fair in Macapá, Amapá, scheduled for 8–16 August, has prompted the local hotel network to record about 80 % of its rooms booked before the event’s official opening. Tourism secretary Syntia Lamarão said the high advance reservations signal strong visitor confidence and are expected to boost hotels, restaurants, transport and other services throughout the state.

In Brejo Santo, Ceará, the Expobrejo 2026 fair, set for 23–30 August, is already filling hotels and pousadas to capacity, with many establishments reporting 100 % of reservations. Hotel owner Napoleão Bezerra confirmed his property is fully booked, while the municipal economic development secretary Jerônimo Freire highlighted the broader impact on local commerce, food outlets, fuel stations and other service providers as thousands of visitors are expected.

Both events illustrate how regional fairs are generating significant short‑term demand for accommodation and related tourism services in their respective Brazilian states.
