Brazilian regulators propose new rules for biodiesel and online medicine sales

The Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has approved a 45-day public consultation and hearing regarding new resolutions for biodiesel. The proposed changes aim to strengthen legal compliance by requiring fuel distributors to prove that biodiesel stocks and acquisitions are compatible with the volume of diesel sold. A key component of the proposal is granting the ANP daily access to electronic invoices for biodiesel and diesel operations, allowing for real-time market monitoring rather than relying on monthly declarations.

Separately, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has initiated a process to regulate the sale of medicines through delivery apps and e-commerce platforms. This follows recent legislation allowing pharmacies to use digital channels for logistics and delivery. The upcoming regulation will address critical safety factors, including which types of medications can be sold online, transport and packaging requirements, traceability, and how pharmaceutical assistance will be provided to evaluate medical prescriptions in a digital environment.
