Brazilian research and cultural funding initiatives announced
The Amazonas State Research Foundation (Fapeam) has released specific guidelines and resolutions for three new public calls for research projects. These initiatives include the Water4All 2026 call, which focuses on the sustainable management of water resources, groundwater, and water resilience. Additionally, the Confap–CDTI 2026-2027 call aims to support research and technological innovation collaboration between Brazil and Spain. A third call, the Serrapilheira 2023, provides support for young scientists in fields such as natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science.
In Paraná, the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) has launched its first public notice for funding cultural and artistic extension projects. Through the Pro-Rectory of Extension and Culture (Proec), the university aims to distribute resources across all its campuses to decentralize cultural support, as current data shows 81% of existing art and culture projects are concentrated in Curitiba. The initiative is funded by the UFPR Culture and Extension Fund, which was established with approximately R$ 3 million from the university's discretionary budget.
