Americanas completes first stage of Hortifruti asset sale to Oba Hortifruti
Americanas, currently under judicial recovery, has completed the first stage of selling assets from the Hortifruti Natural da Terra chain to Oba Hortifruti. The transaction, approved by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), involves the sale of ten loss-making stores in São Paulo for a total of R$ 69.3 million.
The first partial closing involved three of the ten stores, with Oba Hortifruti paying R$ 3.5 million. These funds are being directed toward the extraordinary amortization of Americanas' debentures. The remaining balance for the transferred assets will be paid in 24 monthly installments adjusted by the CDI rate.
In its second-quarter 2026 financial results, Americanas reported a net loss of R$ 274 million, an increase from the R$ 98 million loss in the same period last year. Adjusted EBITDA fell 51.5% to R$ 145 million, while net revenue decreased 1.7% to R$ 3.3 billion. Despite the losses, management noted improvements in expense management and online sales from physical store inventory.
