Brazil retail expects strong Children's Day sales

Retailers in Brazil are preparing for Children's Day, with significant sales projections across various regions. In Mato Grosso, over 1.18 million consumers are expected to shop, generating approximately R$ 628 million in total sales, with R$ 452 million occurring in the final week. The average spend per person in the state is projected at R$ 381.68.

In Cuiabá, the local economy is expected to see a movement of roughly R$ 122 million, with 310,000 consumers participating. Approximately 65% of residents intend to buy gifts, with an average expenditure of R$ 391.88. Most consumers prefer physical stores (74%) over online shopping (25.3%), citing the ability to inspect products and brand trust as key drivers.

Across the country, trends show toys leading purchase intentions (around 30%), followed by clothing and footwear. Credit cards remain the preferred payment method (50.2%), followed by Pix (32.6%). While e-commerce is growing, particularly in Mato Grosso where online shopping intent nearly doubled to 24.5%, traditional brick-and-mortar retail remains the dominant channel.
