Oncoclinicas files for out‑of‑court debt restructuring of R$ 5.1 billion
Brazilian oncology treatment provider Oncoclinicas, which operates 140 clinics nationwide, filed a request for an out‑of‑court (extrajudicial) restructuring of roughly 5.1 billion reais in unsecured financial debt and intercompany claims. Creditors holding about 37 % of the affected claims have already agreed to the plan, meeting the quorum required under Brazilian law. The board approved the filing unanimously and the restructuring proposal will be submitted to shareholders for ratification at an extraordinary meeting. The plan may involve a shareholder capital injection, conversion of part of the debt into equity, replacement of some liabilities with new debt and an extension of repayment terms. Operational obligations to patients, suppliers and other partners will continue unchanged. As part of the restructuring, subsidiaries terminated two built‑to‑suit lease contracts, including a São Paulo property with an estimated 76 million‑real termination penalty that has been added to the claims. Following the filing, Oncoclinicas shares rose about 4 % in midday trading. Private‑equity firm IG4 has signaled interest in buying the company’s convertible debentures, amounting to roughly 500 million reais, further indicating market attention to the restructuring process.
