Brazilian rocker Tico Santa Cruz admits error on fluid sexuality claim, quits Twitter

Tico Santa Cruz, vocalist of the Brazilian rock band Detonautas, revisited a 2021 social‑media post in which he described his sexuality as “fluid and free” during an appearance on the TV Brasil program Sem Censura on 29 March. He said at the time he did not fully understand the concept and that the statement generated a disproportionate reaction online.

He explained that ongoing psychoanalysis helped him recognise the harmful impact of constant digital conflict on his mental health. Following his therapist’s advice, he deleted his Twitter and Facebook accounts, describing the platforms as addictive and a source of widespread illness. “When I said that, I didn’t know exactly what I was talking about. It took on an absurd proportion,” he said.
