Brazilian samba schools unveil 2027 carnival enredos
Unidos da Tijuca released the official rules for its 2027 samba‑enredo competition, stating the winning partnership will retain all copyright. Submissions must be filed by 16 July 2026, include a fee of R$ 500 per member, and may involve up to five composers. The school limits on‑stage equipment to a cavaquinho and a guitar, restricts microphones, and bans political statements and pre‑release recordings.
In São Paulo, the samba school Saudosa Maloca announced its 2027 enredo titled “Brasil, olhai por nós, seus filhos excluídos.” The theme, developed by carnavalesco Vagner Cavalcante, will be presented on 8 February 2027 in the Avenida Eliseu de Almeida parade route, part of the Grupo Especial de Bairros, the city’s fourth‑division carnival league.
