Brazilian schools implement environmental and sustainability initiatives
Educational institutions in Brazil are implementing initiatives to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. In Marília, the Emef Prof. ª Geralda Cesar Vilardi has operated the “Reciclar é Preciso, Ajudar as Pessoas Também” project for five years. The initiative involves students, teachers, and the community in collecting recyclable materials, such as plastic bottle caps and aluminum seals. This effort has resulted in the collection of 82 kilograms of plastic caps and 18.5 kilograms of aluminum seals, which are used to support solidarity actions, including the recent acquisition of a wheelchair for the school.
In Votuporanga, the Civil Defense, in partnership with the Environmental Police and Saev Ambiental, conducted an awareness campaign at the Sarah Arnoldi Barbosa State School. The program focused on the causes and impacts of climate change, such as fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, while encouraging sustainable daily practices like water conservation and waste recycling to mitigate environmental challenges.
