Brazilian Senate honors 25 years of ESCS and Fepecs

The Brazilian Senate held a special session to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Fundação de Ensino e Pesquisa em Ciências da Saúde (Fepecs) and its affiliated Escola Superior de Ciências da Saúde (ESCS).

Proposed by Senator Izalci Lucas, the tribute highlighted the institutions' role in strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS) and driving technological innovation in the Federal District. The ESCS has trained over 2,000 doctors and nurses, with its medical program achieving maximum scores on the National Student Performance Exam (Enade) in 2007 and 2023. The nursing program has consistently maintained maximum scores since 2013.

During the session, Senator Damares Alves advocated for increased research investment to establish the Federal District as a major national research hub. Fepecs Executive Director Vanessa Dalva Guimarães Campos noted that the institution's mission is to integrate education, science, and public health to meet real social needs.
