Brazilian Senate honors 80 years of the Superior Labor Court

The Brazilian Senate held a special session on Monday to honor the 80th anniversary of the Superior Labor Court (TST). Established by Decree 9.797 on September 9, 1946, the court is recognized for its role in ensuring labor justice, mediating collective conflicts, and protecting social rights.

Senator Paulo Paim, the author of the tribute request, emphasized the court’s importance in providing legal certainty and stability to labor relations during periods of economic and social transformation. TST President Luiz Philippe Vieira de Mello Filho credited the institution's long history to the collective efforts of generations of judges, prosecutors, and lawyers.

Marcos Perioto, Secretary of Labor Relations at the Ministry of Labor and Employment, noted that while production methods and technologies have evolved, the court remains essential in ensuring that work is conducted with dignity.
