Brazilian Senate honors Associação do Senhor Jesus for 45 years of media work
The Brazilian Senate held a special session to honor the Associação do Senhor Jesus for its 45 years of service in religious evangelization through television and the internet. The ceremony highlighted the work of Jesuit priest Eduardo Dougherty, the association's founder, and its role in expanding the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Brazil.
The session, presided over by Senator Izalci Lucas, recognized the institution's evolution from early television programs in the 1980s to the establishment of Rede Século 21 in 2013. Father Dougherty emphasized the importance of adapting to new technologies, noting that the organization now utilizes the internet to provide religious and educational content.
Additionally, the association announced it is producing a documentary about the Jesuit missionary José de Anchieta and expressed intentions to create a feature film regarding the history of Jesuits in Brazil.
