Brazilian Senate honors cleaning professionals and celebrates Abipla's 50th anniversary

The Brazilian Senate held a special session to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Brazilian Association of Hygiene, Cleaning, and Sanitizing Products Industries (Abipla) and to honor cleaning professionals.

During the session, Senator Damares Alves announced a legislative project to establish September 20 as National Cleaning Day. This follows the recognition of World Cleanup Day on the same date, which has been part of the United Nations calendar since 2023 to combat pollution caused by waste.

Abipla President Juliana Durazzo Marra noted that the sector has evolved from a routine activity to an essential component of public health and disease prevention, a role highlighted during the pandemic. Additionally, Anvisa Director Marcelo Matos Moreira stressed the importance of addressing informality within the industry.
