Flávio Bolsonaro asks STF to bar Alexandre de Moraes in Banco Master case
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL‑RJ) filed a petition with the Supreme Federal Court on 1 June 2026, requesting that Minister Alexandre de Moraes be declared suspect in any proceedings concerning Banco Master and businessman Daniel Vorcaro. The request, addressed to STF president Edson Fachin, argues that Moraes’ impartiality is compromised by a contract in which the bank paid R$ 80.2 million to the law firm of his wife, Viviane Barci de Moraes, and by alleged messages exchanged between the minister and Vorcaro.
The petition also asks that all pending petitions directed to Moraes be reassigned to Minister André Mendonça, the current relator of the Master case. It follows Moraes’ earlier request for a Prosecutor‑General opinion on the inclusion of Flávio Bolsonaro in an investigation of his brother Eduardo Bolsonaro, and cites accusations that Flávio sought R$ 134 million from Vorcaro to fund the “Dark Horse” biopic of former President Jair Bolsonaro, part of which was allegedly sent to a U.S. fund linked to Eduardo. The STF will decide whether to declare Moraes suspect and to redirect the cases.
“The fact that the wife of the excellent minister Alexandre de Moraes is a lawyer for Banco Master seems to remove from his excellence the impartiality necessary to process and judge the request filed by Deputy Lindbergh Farias…”, the petition states.
