Brazilian Senate to hold special sessions for 80th anniversary of administrative bodies
The Brazilian Senate has approved requests to hold special sessions commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Diretoria-Geral (Dger) and the Secretaria-Geral da Mesa (SGM). The requests were presented by Senate President Davi Alcolumbre.
Both departments were established in 1946 following the end of the Estado Novo dictatorship and the reopening of Parliament. The Diretoria-Geral is responsible for the administrative management, coordination, and logistical support of the Senate's activities. The Secretaria-Geral da Mesa provides direct assistance to the Boards of the Senate and Congress, manages the legislative process, and oversees electronic legislative management.
Alcolumbre praised the staff and collaborators, noting their essential role in supporting the mission of the senators of the Republic. Specific dates for the commemorative sessions have yet to be determined.
