Brazilian Senate to inaugurate new cultural center in Brasília

The Brazilian Senate is set to inaugurate the 'Senado Cultural' center in Brasília on December 9. Located on an 80,000-square-meter site along the shores of Lago Paranoá, the project involves the revitalization of the former Clube dos Servidores Públicos.

The investment for the project exceeds 30 million reais, with 25.6 million allocated to physical restoration and 4.7 million dedicated to the inaugural exhibition. The center will feature galleries, restaurants, an auditorium, coworking spaces, and a playground. Landscaping is being developed by the Burle Marx Office.

A significant component of the center will be a permanent memorial and exhibition regarding the events of January 8, 2023, when the headquarters of the Three Powers were invaded and vandalized. This will include an outdoor area and an immersive gallery. One featured artwork is a piece by artist Vik Muniz, created using debris such as glass and carpet collected from the site of the attacks.
