Brazilian Serie D clubs face early exits and ranking uncertainty

The second phase of the 2026 Serie D ZeroUm concluded, leaving 32 teams to compete in the knockout stage. Strikers Rian Santana of CSA-AL and Kauã Maranhão of Piauí-PI lead the scoring charts with ten goals each as CSA prepares to meet Betim-MG in the upcoming third‑phase tie.

Traditional clubs including Brasiliense, Tuna Luso, Sampaio Corrêa and América‑RJ were eliminated early. Brasiliense, a former Serie B champion, and Tuna Luso, historic Pará side, now depend on the CBF's National Club Ranking to secure a place in the 2027 Serie D, while Sampaio Corrêa and América‑RJ must also look to the ranking after their premature exits.
