Brazilian shoppers spend over R$1,000 a month on groceries, study shows

A study by market‑data firm Dunnhumby found that Brazilian households spend an average of R$1,073.98 per month on supermarket purchases, accounting for almost half of many families' income. The research, which surveyed more than 10,000 shoppers between February and April 2026, noted that food prices have risen sharply, with items such as cucumber (+155%), carrot (+103%) and tomato (+82%) posting the biggest increases over the past year.

Advice published for the Brazilian community in Florida highlights using supermarket apps for weekly promotions, leveraging store‑brand products, buying in bulk from clubs like Costco, and planning purchases to avoid waste. These tips aim to reduce the cost of everyday items such as rice, beans, milk and cleaning supplies while maintaining household needs.
