Brazilian singers Fernanda Takai and Márcia Fellipe release new female‑focused music projects

Fernanda Takai, director of the Brazilian Union of Composers, is set to issue a solo album in October that she describes as more authorial and featuring a strong female presence. The project is intended as a surprise, with no collaborations from her husband John Ulhoa, and will be promoted alongside her participation in the "Por Acaso" program in São Paulo.

Separately, singer Márcia Fellipe will launch the DVD "Forró e Mulher II" on 7 August. Recorded live at Haras Cartaxo in Sousa, Paraíba, the release showcases 17 tracks with guest performances by Samya Maia, Amanda Rainha, Mika Rodrigues, Adma Andrade, Mirella Vieira and Kátia Cilene, highlighting the growing role of women in the forró genre.

Both releases underscore a broader push to increase female representation in Brazil’s music scene.
