Brazilian sisters recreate viral cake meme six years later

Maria Eduarda and Maria Antonia, the Brazilian sisters who became internet famous for a viral video in 2020, have recreated the scene six years later. The original video, which captured a dispute during Maria Eduarda’s third birthday when her older sister blew out her candle, became a global meme used to depict sibling rivalry.

To celebrate Maria Eduarda’s ninth birthday, the family shared a new video on their Instagram account, @asmariasdepb. The recreation featured similar decorations to the original party. Unlike the first recording, the celebration proceeded peacefully, with the sisters successfully blowing out the candle without conflict and Maria Eduarda receiving the first piece of cake.
