Brazilian sports bodies denounce racism against Evandro

The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) and the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) have issued formal condemnations following racist attacks directed at beach volleyball player Evandro during the South American Games in Santa Fe, Argentina.

The incidents occurred on social media prior to the men's semifinal match held on September 16. In response, the COB filed a formal complaint with the Argentine Public Prosecutor's Office (Fiscalía) to investigate the comments and identify those responsible.

Despite the attacks, Evandro and partner Arthur Lanci advanced to the final and secured the gold medal with a 2-0 victory over the Venezuelan duo of Delgado and Vargas. The CBV emphasized that sport should be an environment of respect and equality, stating that no athlete should be forced to endure racism.
