Brazilian state courts hold key judicial elections and hearings

The Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso do Sul (TRE‑MS) scheduled two sessions between June 8‑12 to rule on several cases. Judges will consider an appeal by former Corumbá council candidate Irailton Oliveira Santana, convicted of organizing voter transport from Bolivia, a gender‑quota fraud case involving Avante candidates in Eldorado, and the 2024 accounts of the União Brasil party in Campo Grande, which allegedly misused over 85  thousand reais from party funds.

Meanwhile, the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso (TJMT) announced the slate of magistrates contesting the court’s ouvidoria positions in the October internal election, which will also determine the court’s leadership for 2027‑2028 and the state’s representation on the Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso (TRE‑MT). Candidates include current ouvidor‑general Desembargador Rodrigo Roberto Curvo, Judge Tatiane Colombo, and others vying for the female‑ouvidory and substitute roles, while the presidency and vice‑presidency face single‑candidate races.
