Dorinha Seabra nominated by União Brasil for Tocantins governorship
Union Brazil confirmed the nomination of Senator Professor Dorinha Seabra as its candidate for the governorship of Tocantins, with Atos Gomes as her running mate. The same convention also saw the Senate candidacy of fellow Union Brazil member Carlos Gaguim formally homologated in the state. In Goiás, former governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB) officially launched his bid for the state’s governorship, while the party announced procurator Iure Castro as a Senate candidate. In Amazonas, ex‑governor Wilson Lima defined his Senate ticket, naming businessman Luís Mário Bonates as first suplente and Parintins councilor José Tupinambá Ribeiro Ponte as second suplente. In Ceará, federal deputy Luizianne Lins (Rede) was selected as the second Senate candidate on Governor Elmano de Freitas’s ticket. The MDB also formalised Cícero Lucena’s candidacy for the governorship of Paraíba. New electoral rules restricting radio and TV coverage take effect on 6 August 2026, and the Superior Electoral Court released the allocation table for free electoral propaganda and debate participation for the 2026 elections.
