Brazilian State Electoral Tribunals Prepare for 2026 Elections

The Ceará Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (ACERT) met with the Regional Electoral Court of Ceará (TRE‑CE) on 16 April to coordinate the upcoming Electoral Seminar 2026, scheduled for 30 June. Participants included TRE‑CE President Justice Maria Iraneide Moura Silva and ACERT leaders Carmen Lúcia Dummar Azulai, Ronald Almeida and lawyer Raquel Micucci. Topics to be covered will range from electoral legislation and rules for media coverage to free electoral airtime, legal restrictions on pre‑candidate programs, and the press’s role in combating disinformation.

In Santa Catarina, the Regional Electoral Court (TRE‑SC) will launch a “Dialogue and Peace – Elections 2026” campaign on 24 April at the Florianópolis Legislative Assembly. The event, led by TRE‑SC President Justice Carlos Roberto da Silva, will feature the signing of a commitment charter by political parties, public institutions and civil‑society groups, pledging respect, gender and racial quotas, and peaceful conflict‑resolution mechanisms throughout the electoral cycle. The campaign will distribute educational booklets and use radio, TV and social‑media to promote constructive, inclusive debate.
