Brazilian State Water Agencies Face Tribunal Audits

The water and sewage department of Várzea Grande (DAE/VG) in Mato Grosso clarified that a request for intervention by the State Court of Accounts (TCE‑MT) concerns actions taken between January 2021 and December 2023, prior to the current administration. The agency said the case remains under review, with defenses submitted and the investigation handled by the specialized anti‑corruption police unit.

In Sousa, Paraíba, the Department of Water, Sewage and Environmental Sanitation (DAESA) had its 2022 accounts re‑examined by the State Court of Accounts (TCE‑PB). The court partially accepted the department’s request for clarification but upheld the original ruling, maintaining the imposed fine and deadlines for payment.
