Brazilian states increase investment in school nutrition programs

The government of Santa Catarina has announced plans to invest over R$ 450 million in school meals for the state network in 2026. This represents a R$ 30 million increase from the R$ 420 million allocated the previous year. The initiative aims to provide balanced, diverse meals that respect nutritional needs and regional dietary habits, prioritizing fresh products and local production.

In Paraná, the state government is distributing 4,800 tons of food to more than 2,080 state schools through the Paranaense Institute for Educational Development (Fundepar). This R$ 40.8 million investment will benefit over one million students by the end of the school year. The food shipments include items such as organic rice, parboiled rice, beans, milk, and various vegetables, ensuring nutritional variety for the student population.
