Salvador, Brazil adds hundreds of jobs and hosts major car sales event
From August 14‑16, Salvador hosted the 33rd edition of the Duelo dos Seminovos car fair, featuring more than 1,500 pre‑owned and new vehicles with discounts of up to R$10,000 and special financing options from Bradesco. The event marked the fair’s 10‑year anniversary and included motorcycles, electric and hybrid models.
A wave of employment opportunities is also unfolding across the state. Food‑producer M. The municipal labor service (Simm) posted 376 vacancies ranging from warehouse roles to driver positions, while the city’s Youth Apprentice project opened 600 slots for teenagers, offering half‑minimum‑wage pay and training. The Bahia State Education Secretariat called 13 indigenous teachers and 49 high‑school mediators to temporary contracts. Grupo Astória announced 28 jobs in 11 municipalities, covering commercial, administrative and logistics functions.
A recent IBGE commercial survey showed Bahia ranking seventh nationally in the number of commercial units (96,993) and employing 488,177 workers, but it recorded the eighth‑lowest average monthly salary (R$2,174).
