Brazilian States Paraná and Pará Advance Rural Environmental Registry

The government of Paraná has formally entered its rural environmental registration data into the national Cadastro Ambiental Rural (CAR) platform. The state now reports 220,400 properties with completed analysis and no environmental liabilities, covering 3.84 million hectares—about 27 % of all completed registrations nationwide and a 40 % completion rate for its own catalog, far above the Brazilian average of 9.8 %.

In Pará, authorities will begin a new phase of CAR qualification on 22 June, notifying more than 170,000 properties with pending issues. Producers have up to 150 days to update information, after which those who remain unresponsive for six months risk suspension, with an additional 60‑day remediation window before further penalties.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen the CAR system as a tool for environmental compliance and to unlock access to credit, financing, and other public support for sustainable agriculture.
