Brazilian States Start Rural Road Paving in Bahia and Minas Gerais

The government of Bahia announced a public tender to pave the first 24.30‑kilometre segment of the road linking BR‑030 to the Espraiado district, covering about 58% of the planned 42‑kilometre route. The electronic bidding (process 138/2026) will open on 21 August, with proposals evaluated on the basis of the highest discount under Brazil’s new procurement law.

In the municipality of Entre Rios de Minas, Minas Gerais, the city hall began work on paving four rural hills, starting with the Morro da Cava da Onça. The project, funded by a 2022 parliamentary amendment secured by State Deputy Wendel Mesquita, uses a low‑cost stone‑paving technique that has been tested in nearby towns. Mayor Thiago Itamar highlighted that the works will improve traffic for local residents and agricultural producers.
