Brazil publicist Thiago Miranda's passport seized by STF

On 11 July 2026 Justice Minister André Mendonça of Brazil’s Supreme Court ordered the Federal Police to seize the passport of publicist Thiago Miranda and barred him from leaving the country, citing a concrete risk of flight. Miranda, founder of the agency MiThi and former partner of journalist Léo Dias, is accused of acting as an intermediary for banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the collapsed Banco Master. Federal investigators say Miranda coordinated a network of digital influencers to launch a campaign that attacked the Central Bank and intimidated journalists, including creating dossiers on media figures and the CEO of Itaú Unibanco. As part of the 10th phase of Operation Compliance Zero, police conducted search and seizure raids at Miranda’s residence, confiscating phones, electronic storage devices, cash above R$ 20 000 and other valuables. The probe also links Miranda to payments for a film project about former President Jair Bolsonaro and to arranging contacts between Vorcaro, Flávio Bolsonaro and other political operatives. Miranda’s defense denies any wrongdoing and asserts his cooperation with the authorities. The case highlights possible organized‑crime activities intersecting finance, media manipulation and high‑level political networks in Brazil.
