Brazilian students launch conservation projects for sea turtles
Students in Brazil are engaging in various educational initiatives focused on sea turtle conservation. In Paraná, first-grade students from Escola Municipal Maestro Roberto Pereira Panico authored and illustrated a 16-page book titled ‘Tartarugas Marinhas – Conhecer para Proteger’. The project, which began in July, involved collective research and text construction to support literacy development.
In João Pessoa, students aged 14 to 18 are participating in the ‘Tartathon’, a technological challenge organized by the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) in partnership with Associação Guajiru and Instituto InPact. The event encourages participants to develop physical prototypes or digital solutions to address environmental threats to sea turtles, such as ocean pollution. Winning teams are eligible to receive prizes including a 3D printer and electronic accessories.
