Brazilian students prioritize teaching quality and learning improvements

A survey conducted by Instituto DataFolha reveals that at least one-quarter of Brazilian high school students prioritize improvements in teaching and learning for governments taking office in 2027. The study, commissioned by several foundations including Itaú, Lemann, and Telefônica Vivo, surveyed 5,296 students across all five regions of Brazil.

Students identified several key areas for improvement, including more diverse lesson formats, improved classroom dynamics, teacher training, and reduced teacher absenteeism. The data shows a strong correlation between teacher performance and school perception: 75% of students who believe teachers explain content well rate their school as good or great, compared to only 48% of those who feel teachers do not explain content well.

Gabriel Corrêa, Director of Public Policy at Todos Pela Educação, stated that learning opportunities are at the top of student expectations for a good school. He emphasized that public policy must prioritize learning and accelerate the growth of educational quality indicators as new mandates begin.
