Brazilian teen volleyball star Fabio Ryan dies from dengue complications in São Paulo

Fabio Ryan de Sena Pinto, an 18‑year‑old promising volleyball player from Manaus, Amazonas, died in São Paulo after severe complications from dengue hemorrhagic. The athlete was studying in Nova Esperança, Paraná, and was competing with a team from Pereira Barreto at the regional games in Penápolis when he fell ill. He was first treated at a local urgent care unit, then transferred to the Hospital Estadual de Mirandópolis, where his condition worsened, leading to cerebral hemorrhage and death.

The Federação Amazonense de Voleibol expressed sorrow, and local officials pledged to cover the cost of transporting his body back to Manaus. The tragedy has highlighted concerns about dengue management and health support for athletes during competitions in Brazil.
