Brazilian theater groups celebrate major anniversaries

Two Brazilian theater groups are concluding major anniversary celebrations.

In Rio de Janeiro, Grupo Pedras is ending its artistic occupation at the Espaço Cultural Sergio Porto. The 25th-anniversary event features the adult play ‘Restin’, the children's production ‘Rosa e a floresta’, and exhibitions titled ‘Esplêndidas’ and ‘Pedras 25 anos’. The collective, composed of several actors and technicians, uses the occupation to showcase various artistic languages and celebrate their history of improvisation and poetic performance.

In Boa Vista, Grupo Locômbia Teatro de Andanças is marking its 40th anniversary with a free performance of ‘O Cavaleiro Perfumado’ at Praça Germano Sampaio. The street theater production, which utilizes gestural theater, stilt walkers, and live music, tells the story of a prospector traveling from the Northeast to the Amazonian lands. The performance serves as the final event in the group's four-decade commemorative program.
