Brazilian theater productions highlight social issues and mental health
Cia Suburbando de Teatro will present the play “Mwana Erê” on Sundays throughout September at the Centro Cultural Plataforma in Salvador. The production, which combines theater, music, and dance, addresses themes such as structural racism, violence, and the rights of Black children and adolescents. The performances operate on a ‘pay what you can’ basis and include post-show discussions with the company.
In Goiânia, the Teatro Carlos Moreira is relaunching its Terça Popular project starting September 8. Running through December 15, the initiative uses comedy and live music to promote mental health awareness and social well-being. The program includes the comedy show “Armazém do Humor” and offers opportunities for audience members to participate on stage.
