Brazilian theatre season launches new productions in João Monlevade and São Paulo

A free performance of the children’s play “A Menina que Entra em Livros” was staged on 28 July 2026 in João Monlevade, Minas Gerais. Produced by the theatre company O Trem and part of the 16th season of the Diversão em Cena programme, the show was sponsored by the Fundação ArcelorMittal Minas Gerais and local government. The story follows a young girl who, while waiting for a new sibling, discovers a magical book in the city library and learns about Brazilian folk games and poetry.

From 12 June to 30 August 2026 the comedy‑drama “Meno Male” returned to the stage at Teatro Renaissance in São Paulo. The new production, directed by Léo Stefanini, revives Juca de Oliveira’s classic text and features actors Nuno Leal Maia, Marcelo Faria, Joaquim Lopes and others. It satirises political corruption and social inequality through the tale of a corrupt state secretary whose life intertwines with that of an Italian‑origin taxi driver. Tickets are available for performances scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
