Brazilian towns boost early childhood health with school hygiene kits and first‑childhood pact

The municipality of Balneário Piçarras in Brazil delivered more than 6,000 oral‑hygiene kits to students in its municipal school network as part of the School Health Program. The kits, costing over R$27,000, contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and a coloring book with hygiene guidance. Health Secretary Rodrigo Medeiros said the distribution reinforces continuous health education and promotes lifelong oral‑care habits among children.

In Nova Palmeira, officials from the health, education and social assistance secretariats attended the opening of the First Childhood Month in Paraíba and signed the Pact for First Childhood with the State Court of Accounts. Health Secretary Lorena Costa and Education Secretary Franceilma Macedo highlighted the inter‑sectoral effort to improve conditions for children aged zero to six, aiming to expand access to services and strengthen early‑childhood policies.
