Brazilian towns hold campaigns to protect children and seniors

In Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, a march organized by the local Council for Children and Adolescents and municipal social services gathered families, officials and police to raise awareness about child protection. The event highlighted the "Projeto Pequena Anjo Aléxia" and featured the Police Civil's "Projeto Semáforo do Toque," teaching participants how to spot and report risks. Municipal secretary Janice Ribeiro said, "Every event that makes us reflect on caring for our children is important."

In Brasília, the Federal District government coordinated an educational blitz on Praça do Buriti to mark the World Day for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. Police vehicles, security staff and volunteer groups distributed informational leaflets about the signs of abuse and reporting channels. First‑cavalier Fabrício Faleiro emphasized that “conscientisation is essential to prevent violations and protect the dignity of the elderly.” Both initiatives aim to strengthen community vigilance and support for vulnerable groups.
