Brazilian towns host free health and social services fairs in neighborhoods

On August 1, the municipality of Valinhos held a "Dia D do Prefeitura nos Bairros" in the Jardim das Figueiras neighborhood. Free booths offered health checks, flu vaccinations, free haircuts, animal castration appointments, clothing sales and other social services. Residents praised the convenience, with João Alberto Augusto noting the prompt blood‑pressure check and Rauanny de Souza Robles appreciating the ability to vaccinate her child without traveling.

A week later, on August 8, Londrina's "Orgulho do Meu Bairro" program set up a similar service fair at Praça Diógenes Pomposo Falcão in the Conjunto das Flores. The event provided municipal health vaccinations, job‑seeker registration, education vacancy information, and a help‑desk for the municipal guard, civil defense and the Londrina ON platform. Coordinator Rodrigo Souza highlighted the program’s role in fostering citizenship and neighborhood pride. Local residents expressed satisfaction with the improvements and services offered.

Both events illustrate Brazilian municipalities’ efforts to bring public health, social assistance and civic engagement directly to residents in their own neighborhoods.
