Brazilian towns host major August festivals

The municipality of Valença in Rio de Janeiro will hold its 190th Festa de Nossa Senhora da Glória from 5 to 16 August 2026. The celebration includes a novena, solemn masses, processions and a two‑week program of concerts, dance and local arts, drawing thousands of faithful, residents and visitors. Organisers say the event also fuels the local economy, boosting hotels, restaurants and street vendors.

In Santa Teresa, Espírito Santo, the 27th Festa do Vinho e da Uva opens on 7 August 2026. The three‑day festival features a competition for the title of Queen and Princesses of the wine, wine tastings, Italian‑heritage food and live music. The opening night includes the coronation ceremony, the launch of a 30‑year‑old Mattiello wine and a concert by Léo Lima. Both festivals are highlighted as key attractions for regional tourism and cultural identity.
