Brazilian towns host regional sports tournaments in July
The 1st Copa Lenize Mendes women's volleyball tournament began on 10 July in Sena, Acre, featuring ten local teams at the Ginásio Hermilton Gadelha Pessoa. The event honors the late athlete Lenize Mendes and aims to promote female participation in sport, with matches scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays and free entry for the public.
From 1 to 5 July, the 57th Vaquejada de Missão Velha will take place in the Cariri region of Ceará. The rodeo competition offers a record prize pool of R$ 335 million across nine categories, attracting professional, amateur and female riders. The event includes a traditional vaqueiro parade and will be broadcast nationally via the Circuito Band Cariri Junino.
