Brazilian towns launch new waste disposal initiatives

The municipality of Jales installed 11 dedicated waste collection points in its rural zone under the "Campo Mais Limpo" project. The points accept household solid waste and recyclable materials, with domiciliary waste collected twice a week and recyclables once a week. Local officials highlighted the aim of improving environmental hygiene and fostering community awareness.

In the neighboring state of Santa Catarina, São Joaquim joined the "Penso, Logo Destino" program run by the Institute of the Environment of Santa Catarina (IMA). The initiative focuses on proper disposal of electronic waste and unusable tires, with municipal staff receiving guidance from IMA representatives. The program seeks to reduce illegal dumping, protect public health, and promote sustainable waste management practices.

Both municipalities view the actions as steps toward cleaner, more organized communities and greater environmental stewardship.
