Brazilian towns Mantena and Sinop speed up rural road upgrades

The municipality of Mantena, Minas Gerais, is rapidly improving its rural road network. Municipal works include grading, graveling, construction and reconstruction of culverts, and the repair of bridges in several rural communities. Recent work focused on the Boa Vista Creek area near the property known locally as “Mandioca,” aiming to enhance traffic safety and support agricultural production.

In Sinop, Mato Grosso, officials intensified oversight of the paving project on Estrada Selene, a 6.8‑kilometre road critical for farm‑gate access. The project, launched in 2024 with a total investment of R$ 10.4 million—R$ 4.2 million of which comes from a state‑government agreement—has faced delays because the contracted company lacks necessary machinery. Mayor Roberto Dorner and Vice‑Mayor Paulinho Abreu, together with municipal secretaries and councilors, demanded a meeting with the contractor to resolve the issues and accelerate completion.
