Brazilian towns open housing applications and hire social interviewers

The municipality of Guarujá do Sul announced that registrations are open until 15 September for 32 housing units provided through the Casa Catarina and the National Social Housing Fund (FNHIS) programs. Applicants will be evaluated on income, social vulnerability, family composition and length of residence, with no advantage given to early registrants. As the coordinator of the local social assistance centre, Inês Fritzen said, “It is important that families know there is no advantage for those who registered first. All applications will be assessed according to the established criteria.”

In Cruzeiro do Sul, Mayor Zequinha Lima declared an administrative emergency for the municipal Social Assistance Secretariat and approved a Simplified Selection Process to temporarily hire social interviewers. The hires will support the operation of the Cadastro Único and Bolsa Família programs, with contracts lasting up to 24 months and funded by federal resources from the Decentralized Management Index of the Bolsa Família and Cadastro Único.
