Brazilian towns open new sports and cultural venues

Municipal authorities in Brazil inaugurated two new sports facilities this week. In the city of Simão João Maldaner, the municipal stadium’s sand‑court was expanded, adding a second court, new sand, adjustable nets, bleachers and shower facilities. The project was funded through the municipal sports fund in partnership with the state sports secretariat.

In Parintins, the Milton Almeida Polysportive and Cultural Gymnasium was opened in the Mocambo do Arari district. The venue, the 50th public work of Mayor Mateus Assayag, includes a multi‑sport court, bleachers, a stage for cultural events, a snack bar, restrooms, administrative offices and parking. It was built with municipal resources and is intended to serve athletes, students and community groups.

Both projects aim to improve local infrastructure, promote physical activity and provide spaces for cultural events, reflecting a broader municipal commitment to sports and community development.
