Brazilian towns launch school tree planting and garden projects for World Environment Day

In Votuporanga, São Paulo, the Pastoral da Ecologia Integral gathered at the Espaço Eco de Cima for World Environment Day. Participants held prayers and reflections on stewardship and planted tree seedlings as a concrete act of care.

In Apucarana, Paraná, students from 60 municipal schools and early‑education centers planted fruit trees – pitanga, araçá and grumixama – under the "Junho Verde" programme. Mayor Rodolfo Mota and municipal officials took part, emphasizing that the trees will later provide fruit harvested by the children who helped plant them.

In Fernandópolis, São Paulo, the municipal environment secretariat organized lessons for 77 preschoolers at CEMEI Cacilda Cristina, covering waste separation, sustainability and the benefits of urban gardens. The day concluded with the creation of a pedagogical garden, using recycled tires and seedlings supplied by the secretariat.
